Benito Mussolini
Benito Mussolini was the Prime Minister of Italy from 1922 to 1943. He was a Fascist with dictatorial power. in 1938, Mussolini promised to align with Hitler and his Nazi Party. However, Italy was known for their poorly trained and led military forces. They were quickly defeated by the Allied Powers. The citizens of Italy were not impressed with the leadership of their prime minister and decided to overthrow him in 1943. Two years later, Mussolini was found, captured, and murdered by his own people.
Emperor Hirohito
HIrohito was the longest emperor of Japan. He was emperor from 1926 till his death in 1949. When he took over, Japan was in a time of democratic sentiment. However, his country soon turned to militarism and nationalism. During WWII, Japan attacked nearly all of its neighboring countries and decided to ally itself with Nazi Germany. He was in charge of the devastating attack on Pearl Harbor. However after Japan's surrender in 1945, Hirohito lost all of his power. He soon became known as a "figurehead" to his people, or a leader with no actual power.
Adolf Hitler
Probably the most famous leader during WWII, Adolf Hitler was the dictatorial leader of the National Socialist German Workers Party, or more widely known as the Nazi Party. In 1933, Hitler became the Chancellor of Germany and turned Germany into a fascist state. His goals were to expand the Germany's territories and create the perfect race. He was able to invade countries such as Norway, Belgium, Denmark, and defeat France within the first year of the war. However, his efforts were soon brought to an end. Just before Germany surrendered to the Allied Powers on May 2, 1945, Adolf Hitler committed suicide.
